“The entire model for how we think about a software value stream is wrong.

It is not a pipeline or a linear manufacturing process that resembles an automotive production line; it is a complex collaboration network that needs to be connected and aligned to the internal and external products created by an IT organization, and to business objectives.”

— Mike Kersten

5 bullets review of Project to Product

  • Thoughtful, insightful and well read
  • Connecting old frameworks to new business needs
  • Not just about agile…nor agility
  • Disruption of antiquated industrial models
  • Buy the book…seriously

My experience

I’ve covered a lot of different projects across several different sectors which has been beneficial to understanding the role of both BA & PM in digital transformation.

I’m currently a multi-disciplined lead who often challenges the purpose of projects when the goals aren’t SMARTly defined or contain ambiguous delivery dates.

I prefer the concept of delivering flow and value streams within organisations…but the business isn’t ready for that yet, so we dress it up as projects and actually deliver on value. People are often pleasantly surprised when we deliver more :-)
